VENNA

Would you believe me if I said that I nearly cried whilst standing in the crowd, as Venna used every ounce of his being to blow into his saxophone?

I haven't actually shared this with anyone because I thought it was embarrassing but i’m sure for whoever is as much of a music lover as I am, you’ll get exactly what I mean.

This was the second show, or the first one rather. The one that we all scrambled and fought for our lives to get tickets before they sold out within seconds.

I can’t remember which track he was performing, but I just remember being overwhelmed with emotion, and I had to look up into the ceiling to hold back my cry baby tears.

I'd been looking forward to seeing Venna live again after seeing him perform at Somerset House last year. So bad that I made it my business to get tickets to BOTH shows.

The atmosphere was indescribable. Both nights. The room full of Venna’s friends, fans and family. We were all ready for Venna’s first highly anticipated headline show.

Live performances for me are special. It’s more than an artist rapping on top of their song. My eyes literally lit up when I saw the stage placement because I just knew a live band was about to shell it.

As the night continued, Venna was joined on stage by an array of talent.

Both nights it was evident that TAM TAM was written for the ladies. JADA softly began to sing the first verse and we all joined her because we’ve definitely all been there before!

“Doing the most for you to notice me, you’re pulling me back I need focus.”

— TAM TAM FT JADA

Venna was later joined by Marco Bernardis and the pair performed “Last Poets” & “Mount Shasta” together. This was my first time seeing Marco Bernardis and I couldn't believe my ears. Seeing the two saxophonists so in sync with each other was mind-blowing.

As the night went on we were all in awe of the sounds, the instrumentalists solos & of course Knucks blessed the stage to perform “Standard” and a fan favourite off of Venna’s latest project Equinox, “Misty”. I think it’s evident that a Knucks & Venna collaboration can never fail!

Another very special moment for us all was hearing “Sun, Moon & Herbs live for the very first time. Jvck James joined Venna on stage, captivating the audience (me especially) with his smooth voice.

One thing that I admired the most throughout both shows was the way that he continuously acknowledged his peers, some of which he has known for over 10 years... it brought warmth to my heart to witness a talent like Venna, surrounded by the people that he started his journey with.

I'm especially looking forward to what he has in store for the future. In the meantime, keep streaming his latest masterpiece of a project, Equinox.
